Winter is one of the most amazing times during the year to visit the Smoky Mountains. Not only can you experience the sparkling lights throughout the town, but there are also plenty of exciting festivals and events to attend. This year, one of the biggest area attractions has made some changes and will debut an all new winter celebration! Here is everything you need to know about the new Winterfest at The Island in Pigeon Forge:

What to Expect

Christmas Trees at The Island The new Winterfest at The Island features a ton of exciting elements you don’t want to miss! First of all, the Smoky Mountain Jazz Orchestra will be at the theme park every night to perform all your favorite Christmas songs with a twist! Don’t be afraid to join in on the show and sing and dance along to the music. While the orchestra is playing, lit up trees and the famous fountain will be dancing in the background in synchronization with the songs! You will be amazed by the moves that the 40-foot LED Christmas trees have!

Times to Know

The Winterfest at The Island Show will take place every evening at the top of every hour between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. all the way through January 5th. In between show times, there are plenty of other things to do throughout the park to put yourself in the holiday spirit! The 23-acre park features millions of sparkling Christmas lights. After the sun goes down, the whole park is lit up with Christmas magic! Something else you can do between shows is pay a visit to the jolly old man himself, Santa Claus. Kids and adults can have their photos made with Santa from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a short break for the Winterfest show at 7.

Other Things to Experience

Ferris Wheel at Christmas The Island in Pigeon Forge has dozens of exciting attractions, restaurants, and shops that you need to see while you are there. Since there is a good chance there may be snow on the mountains during the winter months, you don’t want to miss taking in the amazing views from the top of The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel. This amazing ferris wheel will take you more than 200 feet in the air and presents amazing scenery of Pigeon Forge and the Smokies. The best part is you do not have to worry about getting too cold because each gondola is closed in, which will keep you nice and toasty!

If you are looking for a fun place to eat lunch or dinner, The Island is filled with delicious restaurants, including Dick’s Last Resort, Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville, and Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen!
