1. The Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum

Gatlinburg has many unique museums, one of which is the Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum. It houses one woman’s extensive collection of salt and pepper shakers. She opened the museum as a way to share her passion with others. The collection contains more than 20,000 sets of salt and pepper shakers. See depictions of plants, animals, and even some of your favorite cartoon characters. There are many other interesting sights to see here, as well as a salt deposit from the Great Lakes that is over 600 million years old. Visitors can also learn about where salt and pepper come from! They have quite the journey before getting to your table! If you get inspired, you can stop by the gift shop to get a unique salt and pepper shaker set of your very own. Your admissions fee will go towards your purchase!

2. The Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community

Great Smoky Mountains Arts and Crafts Community is another one of the unique things to do in Gatlinburg. The 8-mile loop has gift shops with all kinds of art, such as paintings and pottery. They are created by the largest independent group of artisans in the United States. Visitors can even create their own souvenirs when they participate in the workshops!   Who knows? You may discover a hidden talent. In addition to the art, there is also plenty of great food in the area. For instance, visitors can order all kinds of sweet treats at Glades Soda Fountain.

3. The Village in Gatlinburg

Another place to get great souvenirs is The Village in Gatlinburg. It is an area of downtown Gatlinburg that is modeled after an old-time European village. You can find some great items in the many shops. For example, get some deliciously scented candles and wax melts at Candle Cottage. Enjoy the smell of your favorite dessert or natural scents like flowers and mountain air. Another shop to check out is The Spice and Tea Exchange. The shop has a collection of great hot and iced teas, as well as spices and salts. You’ll also find kitchen accessories, including mugs and cutting boards! When you’re finished shopping, pick up a sweet treat! Get delicious donuts and other pastries from The Donut Friar or a “legen-dairy” dessert from Maddi Mae’s Cafe and Creamery! Looking for even more things to do? The Village in Gatlinburg is also home to Gatlin’s Escape Games! In a fun challenge, You and your travel group are in a race against the clock to complete puzzles and become Masters of Magic!
