Tucked along the west branch of the Little Pigeon River, The Apple Barn in Sevierville Tennessee is a charming village unto itself, composed of an orchard, cider mill and tasting room, winery, candy factory, creamery, general store, Christmas shop, and two restaurants. The Apple Barn History

The iconic Apple Barn in Tennessee was originally built in 1910, part of a traditional working cattle and tobacco farm. The site’s original farmhouse was replaced in 1921. Later, the 65-acre farmstead was purchased in 1972 by the Kilpatrick family, who planted the first apple trees just four years later, and in 1981, the first evolution of The Apple Barn was born. Thanks to the influx of visitors to the area from the World Fair in Knoxville in 1982, soon after opening, The Apple Barn expanded to include a Cider Mill and Cider Bar, featuring an interactive look at the apple pressing process and offering samples and cider by the glass.

The growing success of The Apple Barn inspired the 1986 renovation of the Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant within the walls of the six-room farmhouse, and 9 years later, the Farmhouse Grill, both renowned restaurants in the Sevierville/Pigeon Forge area today. By this time, the General Store was expanding, selling baked goods, apple butter, and other food items, and by 1897, the Apple Barn began operating year-round. The year 1991 brought the Apple Barn Creamery, and shortly after, the Candy Factory opened, using century-old equipment to make old-fashioned sweets and hand-twisted candy sticks.

The Apple Barn Orchard & Wines

In 1995, The Apple Barn Winery opened, featuring a medley of apple and fruit-inspired wines. The onsite orchard of well over 7,000 trees supplies the cider mill, winery, and both restaurants with apples and features dozens of apple varieties, from the popular Golden Delicious and Fuji to the equally delicious Pink Lady, Mutsu, and Winesap. The newest addition to The Apple Barn in Sevierville is the Apple Barn Dessert Wine Shoppe, which specializes in rich, indulgent wines such as Blueberry, Blackberry, and Apple Pie!
