With thousands of people from across the country expected to gather at the 20th annual Pigeon Forge Quiltfest, there’s no doubt the event will be bigger than ever in 2014. Held March 19 through 22, the Quiltfest offers guests who love making and collecting quilts a variety of unique events and classes to attend.
There are nearly 70 class sessions available that cover topics from quilting for beginners to advanced quilting. In addition to classes, quilters are able to enter their works into the Quiltfest Quilt Show, where there is over $20,000 in prizes. An AQS-certified quilt appraiser will even be available by appointment to appraise quilts.
Quiltfest Quilt Show
No matter how simple or fancy the quilt, anyone can enter up to three of their own works into the quilt show. The show is professionally judged, with one viewer’s choice ribbon, along with ribbons and cash prizes up to $4,000 for Best-in-Show.
The quilt show will be open to public viewing at the following times:
March 19-20 9:00am – 6:00pm
March 21 9:00am – 5:00pm
March 22 9:00am – 4:00pm
This year’s Mountain Heritage Challenge will also be offering a separate challenge and prizes with a C-E-L-E-B-R-A-T-I-O-N theme. Challenge packets are available at Holloway’s Country Home in Cosby, TN.
Dinner Social Show and Tell
From 4:30pm to 6:30pm on March 21, there is a social and dinner scheduled for quilters to get to know each other. At $30, the social includes a meal and locally crafted pottery commemorating the event.
Following the social, quilters are welcome to bring their quilted item to a Show and Tell starting at 6:30pm. During the Show and Tell, quilters have the opportunity to win door prizes, including a new sewing machine.
